Apartment Overview

In winter, it’s just 110 steps to put on your skis. Due to its altitude – we are located at 1660m, with the upper cable car stations reaching up to 2220m – there is snow from early December to the end of March (this was also true for the warm season 2023/2024).

In summer, there are several hiking and cycling trails for both less and more demanding hikers and athletes. You can also take trips by car or bus to nearby or more distant areas.

The apartment is operated by Alpentravel.

Accommodation in the Apartment

Rental of an apartment for 1 to 6 people in 2 bedrooms. The apartment layout is 3+kk with an interior usable area of 59m² and consists of a living room with a kitchen area and dining area, two bedrooms, two separate bathrooms with toilets and shower stalls, and an entrance hall for storing shoes and clothing. The apartment also has one smaller and one larger balcony.

  • The first bedroom is equipped with a large double bed.

  • The second bedroom has two separate full-size beds.

  • The living room has a pull-out sofa for 2 people.

  • 2x bathrooms with shower and toilet.

  • Central underfloor heating with individual control in each room. The bathrooms are equipped with electric towel radiators.

  • The apartment comes with one garage parking space inside the building (approximately 2.45 x 5.00m). Access is possible through a gate with a width of 3.5m and a clear height of 2.28m (an SUV with a roof box and a minivan without a roof box have parked here). The building also has an elevator.

  • There is an elevator in the building.

Facilities

  • The apartment and the entire building have a WIFI network with reliable internet. Video calls, streaming, or working with cloud services are completely hassle-free.

  • The kitchen is fully equipped (dishes, pots, cutlery) + a coffee maker for filter coffee, kettle, toaster, microwave, electric oven, 4-burner ceramic cooktop, refrigerator with freezer, and dishwasher.

  • There is a TV in every room – 2x 43” and 1x 50”.

  • The building has a ski storage room with electric boot heating. In summer, it serves for bikes.

  • Additionally, there is a Wellness area – sauna with a relaxation room available in the afternoons and evenings (free of charge).

Dining and Shopping

  • The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering.

  • In the restaurant – there are several restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the apartment (Stamperl, Lärchenstadl, Wilderer Alm).

  • 200m from the apartment is a small shop with basic groceries.

  • Approximately 6km away in Sankt Michael are shopping centers Billa and Hofer.

Skiing and Hiking

The Katschberg Alpine area offers rich activities in all seasons. From skiing to hiking to cycling and much more.

Skiing

The resort features 16 modern lifts in the form of chairlifts, gondolas, or T-bars. You can ski on 70km of slopes of various types from blue to black. Beginners and advanced skiers alike will find suitable trails. Ski rentals and ski schools are available on-site. For children, Katschberg has a toboggan run, a rope park, and various children’s and sports playgrounds.

Hiking

There are countless options for where to go. You can take the cable car to the top of Aineck and enjoy a small circuit, or have lunch at a local restaurant with a beautiful view of the Katschberg pass and then return by chairlift or hike back down. You can explore around Tschaneck with a break for a meal, such as delicious trhanec (a type of dumpling) at Pritzhütte. (For those less inclined to walk, there is an option to be transported by horse-drawn carriage).

Hiking

Experienced hikers can climb to 2480m on Kareck via an unmarked route. Beautiful views of impressive two-thousanders are offered by the surrounding valleys with glacial streams, meadows, and forests. Parents with small children will certainly appreciate the option to take the TschuTschuBahn train through Pöllatal valley and visit one of the local restaurants.

CYCLING: The Katschberg area features the MTB Gontal – Runde bike path, which connects to surrounding bike trails and paths, especially in the Mur valley.

We thank you very much for a wonderful week, the communication with the owner was excellent, and the location was great too. We highly recommend it, even for stays with children. We were worried the children might get bored, but that definitely didn’t happen, the children were thrilled, and there were activities for children “around every corner.” We appreciated the communication in Czech. An unusual bonus was the two bathrooms.
